Pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Premium (with Media Center capabilities); integrated 1.3-megapixel WebCam

good for regular use
It is a good notebook with around 5.75 lb wt.
It comes with VISTA HOME. I could not upgrade it to VISTA ULTIMATE as SONY does not have supporting DRIVERS for this model and it has no plan of developing them. I'm very upset and dissappointed by this as I cannot run few application softwares.
SONY should make this public so that people can decide before buying the product.
Sony Notebooks

Good computer with too much junkware and a slow harddrive.
I've had this laptop for a little over a week now and I'm pretty happy with it. I've worked with computers for about 20 years now and I feel I have a lot of experience. I've only ever had desktops and most of them I build myself, but the time had finally come for me to get a notebook.

Overall I'm happy with this item. The build quality is pretty good, the only thing I noticed has been mentioned before and it is the battery doesn't fit very snug, but it's no big deal.

There is a lot of junk software pre-installed on this thing, it took me a couple hours to get rid of it all as it requires many many reboots. I installed the recommended windows vista updates once this was all done but I had to uninstall some of them. The updated nvidia video card drivers for example caused the notebook to dump memory and crash about every 5 minutes. So I recomend not installing that update if you get this computer.

The main downside is the extremely slow hard drive. It is nice that it is so large and at least it is pretty easy to replace, but I would have rather paid a little more for a faster hard drive.

Value for money.... sony vaio
I got bought this Sony Laptop last month. I am very much satisfied with the performance and quality. Worth for the money spent.

HP Pavilion DV6745US 15.4inch Entertainment Laptop

HP Pavilion DV6745US 15.4" Entertainment Laptop (AMD Turion 64 X 2 Dual Core TL-60 Processor, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive, Vista Premium)

One of the best laptops I've ever used!!
I recently purchased this laptop and it is everything I needed in a notebook. It comes accommodated with all the features I need, and the price I purchased it for was very modest. For me this computer was great for all my needs. Plus, it has best quality screen, and the webcam quality is phenomenal. It runs so smoothly and I would recommend this laptop to anyone in the market for one!!
HP Laptops

Excellent notebook!!!!
I just purchased this note book and love it. Between the 3gb of ram, GeForce 8400 256mb video card and 250 gb hard drive, who could ask for more. You have a high definition screen and a duo core intel processor. I've seen no laptop with this much hardware for such a low price.

I use this notebook at work and for a litte internet game play. With the GeForce 8400 256mb video card both run smooth as silk.

Whether you are looking for a gaming laptop or a strong personal/business laptop, this is the one for you.

Don't buy into the HP hype...Dell PCs are still better
Buy a Dell. Hp is good, but if you play 3D games, edit video/images, or run large programs, the Dell Inspiron is the way to go. I own the dv6707us and there are no problems, but there's not too much to boast about either. It's a plain pc with some asthetic features.

Don't get me wrong, I recommend this PC to simple internet and Email users, but if that is all you do, the dv6707us is too expensive.

Your best option is to configure your own PC based upon your personal needs. That way, you can guarantee yourself that you will not be disappointed. If you don't know what parts to include, ask someone who does. Also, it is a good idea to own a desktop computer and not just a laptop. Desktop PCs are easy to upgrade and are very reliable.

Acer Ferrari 3400LMI notebook Mobile

ACER Ferrari 3400LMI notebook Mobile Athlon 64 AMD3000+ 15.0" SXGA+ 512MB DDR333 80GB 4200rpm DVD Super Multi ATI Mobility RADEON 9700

almost trouble-free
After two and a half years, I'm still satisfied. Of course while it was brand new, it was really something to show off.

I did have a significant issue a little after the two year mark, as the hard drive began to show signs of failure. Once I determined that Toshiba would replace it under warranty, I bought a larger and faster Toshiba drive. When the warranty replacement drive arrived (the exact original model) I put it into an external accessory case.

It was a little annoying to have to take it halfway apart in order to upgrade the RAM, but I found good instructions online, and it turned out not to be a difficult process.

The photo currently on Amazon makes the red mouse appear wireless - it is not.
acer notebook

A little bit of problems, but all resolved
My ferrari only had problems because I live at a high altitude. (10,000 ft). I had to send it back 4 times because it kept shutting down. They paid for shipping both ways, and I always had it back within a week. The customer service was awesome after the first time. They don't communicate much, but if you call them, they have your issue logged, and will help you. Once they figured out the problem, they put in a better cooling system, and it's been flawless since. I love it. The last two times I sent it back was because the DVD/CD drive was a little loose. A little nudge, and it recognized it immediately. I'm sure if we would have figured it out, there would have been only two send backs. All in all, I'm extremely happy with it. Not sure if I use it to the extreme like some reviewers do that have posted bad experiences, but it does what I need it to do. It still runs hot, but doesn't shut down. I'm a husker fan.. who can't beat red, and the awesome comments taking it out for airport security. They love my Ferrari!

excellent laptop--MacBook MB062LL/B 13.3"
It's a great notebook and works better than I expected. Excellent price and fast delivery from Amazon.com.

Definitely better than a PC
I am a recent MAC convert and I do not regret converting for one second. My mac loads fast and is very user friendly. I particularly enjoy the integrated webcam and having my picture taken the first time I configured my mac.

A pleasure to use
The last time that I bought an Apple computer was about 20 years ago when real floppy disks were still being used. In the interim, I have used (and suffered through) every incarnation of Windows through XP Pro. But when Vista came out with all of its headaches (I ordered and then returned a Vista laptop), I decided to listen to all of my friends who raved about Apple and bought the black MacBook with 2 GB of RAM. It is one of the best purchases that I made.

When I am at home, I have this connected to a Samusung 226 BW monitor and am blown away with the high resolution display. Even when I use the laptop as a standalone, the screen is bright, the colors are sharp, and the text is crystal clear.

Finding and connecting to wi-fi hotspots on the road is painless compared to the configuration required on my pc laptop. Recently I was in an airport that had a paid wi-fi service that was pricey, yet my MacBook found a free connection that I easily connected to.

Although I had never used a Mac before, because everything is so intuitive, and because the help menus are excellent, it took me very little time to learn all of the basic functions.

Apple Tech support is excellent. I redid the wireless network in my home with an Apple Airport Extreme and ran into some problems that tech support solved. Best of all, everyone spoke clearly and in American English since I was not routed to another country.

The MacBook comes with lots of interesteing ILife software, including IPhoto. For the first time on vacation, I took hundreds and hundreds of digital photos because transfering them from my digital camera to the MacBook, editing them, and deleting unwanted photos was so easy with the IPhoto software.

The bluetooth is also a nice feature that works effortlessly with the Apple bluetooth mighty mouse and Apple bluetooth wireless keyboard that I purchased to use when the laptop is hooked to my external monitor.

This laptop, while not "slim", is still reasonably compact and was very easy to travel with using an InCase bag that Apple sells specifically for this unit.

In short, this is packed with lots of features, is easy to use, and looks like and is a quality product.

Almost perfect except for that keyboard
First, here's what was done right.

I can put the power cord in my pocket. No laptop carrying case necessary. This is brilliant.

Ctrl+Alt+T pops up console, and KDE's "konsole" program is just one command away. 80% of my time on this machine is spent using this one program. It works perfectly out of the box.

Firefox (including all of the plugins I usually have to install manually) Just Works.

Wireless comes very close to "Just Works". The simple connection software doesn't track wep keys per connection (that I've been able to figure out), and there are a few UI issues. But "/etc/init.d/network restart" works as well as it always did.

The screen? It's small. It doesn't work well for google maps. It works fine for everything else.

In short, this is a really, really impressive laptop. And it has a bash shell. That's about all I need.

Now let's talk about the keyboard.

It's small. That's fine, I have small fingers. Evidently, my typing style is such that I never use the right shift key, so that hasn't bothered me either. The frustration comes from being able to hit a key (the worst offender is 'n'), feel it go all the way down, and not have anything happen. This only happens when coming in from the corner instead of directly on the middle of the key, and doesn't happen all of the time. But it happens often enough to really slow me down as a typist.

All of this may seem a little unfair -- this machine wasn't designed for 10-hour coding sessions, but that's what I use it for. My error rate is (slowly) going down, and perhaps after a few iterations there will be a model with the smaller equivalent of the Dell QuietKey. Until then, I'm keeping this one and (mostly) loving it, but I'm very reluctant to recommend it to anyone else who would be doing any serious typing on it.

If you're looking for a computer to do mostly quick web browsing and email, this is just about perfect.

Sleep mode useless
There's plenty of good features to this laptop as you can see from the other reviews. It has, however two flaws that you should know about:

1. the right shift key is in a non standard place
2. the sleep mode is basically useless - the laptop uses too much energy when it's in sleep mode so it will shutdown (without closing programs) in just a few hours.

the shift key issue can be fixed - google asus eee users forum for details
the sleep mode problem is a deal breaker for me.

eeexcellent pc!
I purchased this machine as a travel pc and have to admit that it's a fun little pc to use. The start up is quick - really quick. We needed quick directions. Got them in less than 3 minutes. The other laptop and desktop were still booting up. I was wary of Linux operating system having never used it, but it is so user friendly. It's just like windows - only different icons. I connected it to my home and office network in a snap. In less than 10 minutes I was browsing the web. I thought the small 7" screen would not allow full screen view and scrolling, but it does. I have only had a few sites where I have to horizontal scroll but i can live with that.

The pc comes preloaded with very usable applications. I love OpenOffice. I can work on WORD and Excel docs. on the fly. and i dont have to carry the heavier laptop as much. It fits in my travel bag. I am typing this review on it. The keyboard is a little small and takes a little getting use to. But having used small notebooks before it is very workable. It may be a problem for men with large fingers.

I let a 7 and 12 year old use it and they love it. The small keys are perfect for them and it is very durable. It has been knocked around a few times and is solid. They love carrying it around because of the wireless. They have gone to all their favorite sites and I have yet to hear of audio or video not playing.

All in all this is a great little lap top. Ideal for kids, travel, fun. Great to have in car with kids. It's light, durable and a great addition to home or office. It even allows for you to convert to Windows operating system. But why would you? It even looks cool. People ask all the time is it a real laptop? Get one, you wont regret it.
