Customer Review: Can't Live Without It If You're A Road Warrior
I fly AA and they have power hubs for dc charges under most of the seats. Working the whole flight and de-planing with a fully charged laptop is absolutely wonderful. Highly recommended, but just make sure it is the right one for your laptop on Targus's site!
Customer Review: Forgot our laptop power supply on our trip, this was a great stand-in
While vacationing in summer 2007, we forgot to pack our Dell's laptop power supply. After making a call to Dell customer support for how to best get one that day, they recommended we go to a retail electonics store. We stopped at Best Buy, saw this model (~$) and bought it after we got their assurances that we could return it immediately if it didn't work out. Back in the rental car, we opened it up, saw the Dell's model number listed in its multi-page compability charts, plugged it into the cigarette lighter and the laptop, and all worked as promised. PLUSES The niceties are that with this product there are both AC and DC input cables. While the AC plugs into the wall, the DC has ends that plug into the cigarette lighter as well as an In-Air converter (which we've never used). After getting home, we were also pleased that among the other laptop tips, there were ones that also work with our IBM ThinkPad and HP Pavilion laptops. (Tip: We used a label maker to label the tips with the corresponding devices we use.) We now use this at home to charge one of the laptops that travels between home and office. It's also handy when traveling with multiple laptops since you just bring this one charger and multiple tips, though we'd have to take turns charging. MINUSES Although the instructions inside indicate you can buy an optional Digital Device Adapter to plug into it, advertised to charge your cell phone, MP3 player, digital camera, or PDA, there are no tips available for our Samsung Blackjack cellphone (which we would have expected) or our Sony Cybershot camera (which we did not expect). They do make iPod adapters. See for the available tips. OVERALL We are pleased with this purchase, even though we felt it was rather expensive. I would have given this 5 stars if it they made tips to handle our non-notebook devices.
